Description
We are seeking an experienced Activity Assistant to join our team in a long-term care setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating recreational activities that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being for our residents. The Activity Assistant will work closely with our care team to develop and implement engaging and meaningful activities, while also ensuring the safety and comfort of our residents. Duties:
- Plan and coordinate recreational activities for residents, including arts and crafts, exercise programs, games, and social events.
- Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized activity plans that align with each resident's preferences, abilities, and needs.
- Organize and lead activities in a safe and engaging manner, ensuring the participation of all residents.
- Assist with event planning and execution, including decorating, setup, and cleanup.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation, including attendance and feedback.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and local businesses to secure resources and activities for residents.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss activity plans, resident needs, and other relevant topics.
- Monitor and report any changes in a resident's physical or mental health to the care team.

Requirements
Requirements:
- Experience working in a long-term care setting, such as a nursing home, assisted living facility, or memory care community.
- Experience in recreational therapy or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of senior care and the needs of older adults.
- Ability to develop and implement engaging and meaningful activities for residents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and care staff.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, with the ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is preferred.
