POSITION TITLE: Head Boys/Girls Combined Swimming Coach - North High School

MINIMUM EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS

Three years of coaching experience required

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree, with emphasis in Education preferred Current or prospective employment as a teacher in the Omaha Public Schools and the identified site preferred Must meet Nebraska School Activities Association guidelines High school coaching experience in swimming, with prior head coaching experience preferred The varsity position requires deep knowledge of swimming and the ability to foster positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members Exhibit high standards of professional ethics and conduct

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Varsity Head Coach is responsible for leading the swimming program in a manner that serves the best interests of the school district and student athletes. The coach works cooperatively with school administrators to ensure activities are consistent with building needs, practices, and rules set by the Metropolitan High School Activities Association and the Nebraska School Activities Association. The coach ensures that all staff and participating students adhere to policies, regulations, and procedures of the Board of Education. Program Leadership Supervise the swimming program at all levels of competition, ensuring the safety and well-being of all student participants Set and maintain high expectations for learning, performance, and conduct, supporting students’ academic success and promoting sportsmanship and fair play Develop and communicate plans for teaching and supporting student behavior, implementing them consistently and fairly Implement a cohesive program that teaches skills and promotes teamwork through instruction, practice, and competition Support eligibility criteria for participation as determined by the school, district, and relevant athletic associations Assist in selecting, supervising, developing, and evaluating coaching staff Promote the swimming program through district-approved activities to develop skills in young children Assist student-athletes interested in pursuing higher education and athletics beyond high school, including scholarship opportunities Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the media following district guidelines *Note: These statements describe the general nature of work and are not exhaustive of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.*
