Actively hiring "Patient Care Technician/ Patient Care Associate " at Brooklyn , NY for position at a hospital. pay rate is $23-$25/hr.
Schedule Notes : Morning shift, Evening shift, Night shift (5x8)
Job Description:
Assists patient with activities of daily living. Administers baths (Complete and Partial). Administers oral hygiene each shift and more frequently as needed. Completes all assignments unless otherwise directed by nurse. Assists with meals and feeds patients as needed. Performs frequent patient rounds. Passes ice water. Passes snacks. Turns and positions patients as directed. Assists in transfer/ambulation. Provides bedpans/urinals as needed; Administers incontinence care. Age Specific Competencies: Provides maximum privacy, maintaining patient safety standards. Allows patient to have some control in self-care and decision-making. Initiaties Delirium Protocol for patients 70 years or over. Offers assistance to aging adults with ADLs. Anticipates decreased visual acuity and hearing loss. Anticipates possible decline in mobility and sense of balance. Provides assistance as necessary including step stools with handrails, access to handicapped equipped bathroom, etc.
Administers Basic Treatments Provides postmortem care. Assists in bowel and bladder training. Assists with reality orientation. Administers enemas as directed. Applies warm and cold treatments. Performs simple dressing changes. Provides basic decubitus care. Collects specimens. Discontinues foley catheters. Discontinue IV s. Provides established colostomy care. Supervises incentive spirometry. Performs 12 lead EKG s. Performs phlebotomy procedures as directed. Performs glucometers and relays results to primary RN. For PCT/LPN only: Administers medications as directed by RN Inserts foley catheter as per hospital policy. Inserts IV s as per hospital policy. Age Specific Competencies: Assists aging adults with positioning and ambulating. Adjustment made for tolerance to cold and warm temperatures. Anticipates reaction to procedures and perceived pain. Adjusts actions as needed
