Job Title: MachinistJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Machinist to expertly oversee the machining and fitting of metal parts, tools, and machines, including hydraulics and pneumatics. This role requires the ability to work independently from start to finish on various projects, using blueprints, sketches, schematics, and other specifications.ResponsibilitiesLay out work from blueprints, sketches, schematics, and other written specifications.Set up and operate all available machines and machine tools.Perform progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements.Determine operation sequences.Skillfully use all machinists' hand tools and determine properties of metals.Diagnose mechanical equipment failures such as gear box and leadscrew related failures, determine corrective action, and execute repairs.Use measuring instruments typical of the trade to determine dimensions and quality of work performed.Perform other duties as designated by supervisor, in the same salary grade or below.Essential SkillsExperience in machine shop practice, including knowledge of conventional and CNC machine tool functionality.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders.Proficiency with CNC equipment.Strong understanding of machining techniques and procedures.Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical equipment failures.Additional Skills & QualificationsTwo years of machine shop school education supplemented by 10,000 hours of applied machine shop and maintenance trades experience.Vocational or high school education or equivalent required.On-the-job training to learn trade techniques and procedures.1 year of prior machining background, with a preference for candidates with CNC experience.Why Work Here?Enjoy guaranteed wage increases based on hours worked in a union environment.
