Job Summary

The Patient Escort is responsible for transporting hospital and ambulatory patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or hydraulic stretcher to and from various destinations within the medical facility. This role plays a vital part in ensuring safe, timely, and compassionate patient movement, while maintaining equipment cleanliness and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Escort patients safely and efficiently to their initial appointment or destination from designated entry points
2. Complete Daily Disinfection & Tracking Logs for every patient transported
3. Disinfect wheelchairs before each use according to the Wheelchair High-Touch Disinfection/Inspection Protocol
4. Follow the Equipment Checklist for assisting patients on and off wheelchairs or stretchers
5. Communicate clearly and courteously with patients, caregivers, and staff to ensure a positive experience
6. Navigate the hospital campus independently while following assigned routes and schedules
7. Maintain professionalism and excellent customer service at all times
8. Push patients weighing 200 lbs or more using proper techniques and safety protocols

Required Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Minimum of 1 year of experience in patient care or a related customer service role
3. Ability to push at least 200 lbs safely and repeatedly throughout the day
4. Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
5. Ability to follow directions and work independently

Preferred Qualifications

1. Demonstrated excellence in customer service
2. Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare facility escorting patients
